Our story

A family business built on bricklaying

Curb Appeal Masonry is a small, family-run business in Suffolk County. The people you meet at the estimate are the people who do the work.

Where it started

The business began with James Sodaro’s father, a bricklayer who taught the trade to the next generation. He has since retired, but what he passed on is still how we work. Between the generations, the family has about 40 years of combined bricklaying experience.

Who we are today

James runs Curb Appeal Masonry and is your main contact for estimates and scheduling. He works alongside his business partner, Barry Viola. Together they handle masonry and tile, and take on bathrooms, kitchens, flooring, painting and drywall and full renovations.

How we work

We’re a small crew, not a big company with salespeople. That means straight answers about what a job needs, talking directly with the people doing the work, and work we’re glad to put our name on. Nearly all of our jobs come from neighbors and past customers passing our number along.

Where we work

We’re based in the Islip area and work throughout Suffolk County, Long Island. Our hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM.
